I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have -Thomas Jefferson |
A little about me... For the majority of my life, I was undecided on my future. I was undecided on a major for college and I especially did not know what I wanted to pursue a career in. Throughout high school, I took a variety of classes and none of them piqued my interest or warranted my lifelong dedication. It was not until I took a Sports Medicine class that I realized I was highly intrigued with the human body and the science that relates to it. Upon starting college, I decided to pursue a major in Kinesiology, although this changed after taking my first nutrition course that focused on scientific principles. After switching my major to Nutrition and Dietetics, I became immersed in the field and quickly decided to dedicate my academics and future career to nutrition. The decision was easy, as I had a strong enthusiasm for the scientific aspects and its practical application to not only myself, but the entire world’s population. I want a career in dietetics to optimize the health and nutritional status of individuals, particularly athletes. Sports nutrition encompasses many of my interests such as exercise physiology, nutritional therapy, injury rehabilitation, diets, and more. Combining my newfound passion for nutrition and dietetics with my deep-rooted interest in sports and its culture constitutes the perfect recipe for lifelong dedication.
Looking to the future...After graduation from Penn State's , I aspire to go into the field of sports nutrition. I can see myself as a dietitian and a researcher, as working with people and making new discoveries are two major areas of interest for me. Sports nutrition entices me due to my lifelong exposure to athletics, respect for sport culture, and enthusiasm for exercise physiology. I plan on keeping my mind open and seeing every opportunity as a learning experience that will take me one step closer to fulfilling my aspirations. With diligence, determination, and devotion, I see reason to believe that this is all possible.

I initially fell in love with the scientific principles of nutrition that encompass a broad mix of physiology, chemistry, biology, and more. After diving more in depth within the curriculum, I discovered that there was so much more to nutrition than I had originally thought. I have gained valuable knowledge and skills within communication, education, clinical, culinary, and community nutrition, plus much more to come. The Didactic Program in Dietetics at Penn State has layed a great foundation for a successful future in nutrition.
To ensure future success, I have set goals that compel me to strive towards achievement. After completing the internship and exam, I hope to obtain my Master’s Degree in a nutrition-related subject and start a career in sports nutrition, working in either a university or franchise setting within 1-3 years. I also hope to establish a network of professionals within both my field and geographical area. In the long-term, I wish to establish myself as a professional in sports nutrition and work my way up the ranks. I would like to start my own initiatives and head my own programs that are unique and innovative in the field in order for it to grow and flourish, along with the people involved. This goal stems from my Performance Nutrition internship, which has inspired me so much that I wish to bestow this privilege to others.
